What you'll be doing
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Coordinator is a leadership and coordination role for the nurse practitioner cohort in the District. The role is integral to the strategic direction of enabling and empowering the Nurse Practitioner Model of Care, aligned with the Clinical Services Plan and Strategy 2026.

Working directly with the Deputy District Director Nursing Midwifery, the Ministry of Health and the Nurse Practitioners throughout the District, the NP Coordinator role will:
  • Coordinate the Local Health District (LHD) Nurse Practitioner (NP) strategic direction and governance for Nurse Practitioners/Transitional Nurse Practitioners (NP/TNP) across the LHD. 
  • Provide a high level of advice and support to actively engage with the Directors of Nursing and Midwifery to recruit to new Nurse Practitioner roles across Southern NSW LHD (SNSWLHD).
  • Leverage their comprehensive understanding of professional, clinical and legislative requirements of NPs to enable the seamless implementation of models of cares, training pathways and professional and clinical governance processes that support whole team approaches and ensure high-quality clinical care of consumers and families.


Selection Criteria

  1. Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) who is endorsed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of governance arrangements for Nurse Practitioner in NSW and Nationally.
  3. Demonstrated ability leading teams and to utilise critical thinking and negotiation skills to achieve successful project implementation.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary professional and operational Nurse Practitioner management, including emerging trends with the nursing profession and expertise at a senior level in the health environment.
  5. Demonstrated excellent verbal communication and written communication skills, experience in policy development and competence in working with computers.
  6. Highly developed and proven communication skills that include facilitation and presentation skills; delegation and negotiation skills and the ability to write reports of a high standard.
  7. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015.  All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
