The Head of the Department Neonatal Intensive Care holds responsibility for the effective management of the Department’s clinical, financial and human resources, including the Department’s processes for care delivery, achieving key performance objectives, adherence to organisational policies and procedures, and maintaining and developing the quality aspects of service delivery. The neonatal Head of Department will work within the SLHD Women’s and Babies Clinical Stream to ensure activities within the Department align to broader SLHD objectives.
    
As clinical leader, they will enhance clinical engagement and professional practice and standards, as well as a culture of respect for the individual, teamwork and continuous performance improvement. 
  
The appointment as Head of the Department of Neonatal Intensive Care is for an initial period of five years (with potential extension). The Head will hold the substantive position of a senior medical practitioner in Neonatal Intensive Care, and as part of this substantive role, will also undertake patient care duties in the Department, providing high quality specialist medical care and services for inpatients and non-inpatients attending ambulatory clinics.

  
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of Royal Australian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) with recognised qualifications in perinatal/neonatal medicine and/or equivalent (for the purposes of the respective Award).
  
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
