Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join Community Paediatrics Team.
   
We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Child and Adolescent Safety! The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist and Paediatrician in Child and Adolescent Safety Paediatrician (CASP) is to provide high quality clinical, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in child and adolescent safety, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Paediatric Department and across SLHD as required.
   
The focus of the role is to provide clinical and strategic leadership to support holistic, child protection medical and forensic responses within SLHD. The Staff Specialist is responsible for developing systems, policies and practices, in partnership with the broader workforce, to ensure optimal health and wellbeing outcomes for children experiencing sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect and/or domestic violence. They will ensure strong collaboration with the Paediatric Departments at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and The Canterbury Hospital, as well as within the SLHD Community Paediatrics Team where the position is based.
       
The Child and Adolescent Safety Paediatrician will have advanced skills in engaging and motivating staff and developing capability and potential in others that inspires direction and purpose. They will work closely with the Manager of the Child Protection and Strategy Unit, Director of Child and Family Health, Director of Violence, Abuse and Neglect, Child Protection Clinical Nurse Consultants, the Medical Lead Adult Medical and Forensic - Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN), Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, Paediatric colleagues, psychosocial staff, Emergency Care colleagues, and more broadly across the health service to provide integrated, culturally safe, and trauma-informed care. 
      
The Child and Adolescent Safety Paediatrician will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development. 
  
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) Paediatrics and Child Health Division (Paediatrics) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
  
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
