About the role

This position provides services to women in Sydney Local Health District communities who are pregnant or caring for an infant up to 2 years of age and who are using substances at a level that meets the threshold for a specialist Drug and Alcohol service. The Clinician will cover the spectrum of screening, assessment, treatment, and case management for substance use with priority for services based on severity of substance use and/or complex management of family and other social issues that impact on the care of the infant.

The service is based in the community and includes visiting women and their families at home, in community settings, health centres and hospitals. It will work closely with other providers including Maternity Services, Child and Family services, and the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service to provide specialist Drug and Alcohol Treatment services to women who are pregnant or caring for an infant up to 2 years of age. The Clinician will also collaborate with other key service providers, both Government and Non-Government, and will be expected to supervise, educate and mentor to build local capacity across these organisations.

  

We are looking for someone who has...

  • A Bachelor degree in Social Work or equivalent that provides eligibility for full membership of Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) with experience at Level 2 or higher.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of Social Work in the field of children & families as it relates to drug & alcohol.
  • A current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 licence acceptable).

About working for SLHD

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022).

  

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

  

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
