About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Naamuru is an 8 bed inpatient tertiary mental health unit that provides mental health treatment and support for primary carers of infants (up to 12 months of age) who are experiencing severe and acute mental illness in the perinatal period. The primary carer and their baby are admitted together to support their attachment and to minimise the trauma of separation. Partners or an alternate support person are encouraged to stay overnight to help support care giving and parent-baby relationship.
A multidisciplinary approach is taken at Naamuru which includes mental health nurses, child and family health nurses, a clinical midwife consultant, psychiatrist, paediatrician, peer support worker, social worker, psychologist, occupational therapist and a dietitian. Naamuru also has a therapeutic group program that runs throughout the week by the team as well as individual sessions with admitted parents and partners/support person.
This position will provide senior clinical leadership within the Social Work service provision including optimisation of patient/client care delivery, as well as supporting the mentoring and development of staff including provision of supervision and direction to Level 1/2 staff and students on clinical placements in accordance with the award.
Ideal Candidate
- Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, with Current NSW Driver’s Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation.
