About the role 

As a MGP Midwife you will utilise a range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide exceptional care for women enrolled in the MGP and their families. 

Some of the responsibilities of an MGP Midwife include: 

  • Demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide and coordinate woman-centred, evidence-informed, high quality, midwifery care (consistent with NSW and SLHD policies, procedures and standards) for women enrolled in the MGP and their families across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and postnatal/newborn care.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with the woman, her family, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Maintain responsibility for personal and professional development by participating in ongoing training/education activities, clinical supervision and performance reviews in order to continuously improve the level and quality of service.
  • Work with the authority, responsibility and accountability for the achievement and maintenance of quality care and monitoring of outcomes for allocated women.
  • Provide support to other staff. 

You must be available and have the capacity to work and participate in an on-call roster (24 hours per day/ 7 days per week) across the continuum of care that includes pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary agreement. 

We are looking for someone who has…  

  • A current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development, including evidence informed practice and the acquisition and retention of comprehensive Midwifery skills (to be completed within 12 months of commencement).

About working for SLHD 

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022)  

 

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).​

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
