Where you'll be working

Concord Repatriation General Hospital is proud of its healthcare service excellence and leadership in clinical care. Concord is part of a network of hospitals and healthcare services within Sydney Local Health District.

What you'll be doing

To assist in the coordination and to deliver oral health services to in-patients of acute and aged care wards of hospitals within the Sydney Local Health District.
To ensure a high standard of oral health care by providing a professional level of service to patients, and by exercising clinical expertise and judgment commensurate with the scope of practice of an experienced Oral Health Therapist Level 1/2.

Sydney Local Health District Oral Health Services is looking for skilled, enthusiastic and motivated oral health therapist to implement a patient-centred oral care in the Geriatric wards at Concord Hospital initially, followed by a potential roll-out in other SLHD hospitals. The senior OHT will support the geriatric medical and nursing staff in achieving optimum oral care for geriatric patients.

Selection Criteria

  • Current registration as an Oral Health Therapist or both the registrations of Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated high levels of knowledge, and clinical skills, in the full range of activities permitted under the oral health therapists’ scope of practice.
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to work as part of an effective clinical team.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, exercise professional judgment commensurate with years of experience, displaying advanced reasoning skills, in providing clinical services to patients with diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as frail dependent and medically complex
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating oral health services and education sessions.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of NSW MoH CORE Values, commitment to quality improvement activities, code of conduct, workplace education and an interest in Research.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Current NSW Driver’s License (P2 license acceptable) with an ability and willingness to travel occasionally with the Sydney LHD for work purposes.
