Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Clinical Coding Auditor to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.


Do you have a Degree, Diploma or Associate Diploma in Medical Record Administration or Health Information Management, the completion of a recognised coding course (HIMAA or OTEN) or other relevant related qualification and/or requisite experience relevant to the role?

Do you have extensive experience in a major teaching hospital, across a range of specialties with a proven knowledge of Australian Coding Standards, DRG's and Casemix and their application within the health system and Substantial experience with Microsoft Office, Patient Administration Systems as well as computerised encoding systems (3M Encoder)?

The Clinical Coding Auditors are responsible for managing, co-coordinating and undertaking a continuous audit and quality program for clinical coding at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) and Balmain (BH) Hospitals.

The Clinical Coding Auditor will ensure that a continuous audit plan is in place relating to coding; at facility and individual coder level and make recommendations for continuous improvement. The Clinical Coding Auditor will be required to work with Coding Educators and the Clinical Coding Coordinators to ensure targeted education and training is provided based on coder, specialty/ad hoc, and facility-wide audit results.

The Clinical Coding Auditor will provide advice, exchange information and prepare reports on a wide range of issues in relation to clinical coding and ABF requirements. The position will be required to produce reports and interrogate coded data to ensure its accuracy and timely completion of work by clinical coders.

The Clinical Coding Auditor will be required to provide advice and guidance to clinical coding staff to ensure coding is completed in accordance with coding conventions and standards.
