About the Role 

Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Marrickville. 

Provides senior clinical leadership in the nutrition care, education, counselling, and nutrition support to people living with severe mental illness. The role requires the clinician to provide clinical care in various settings, including outpatient & multi-disciplinary clinics, community health centres and other community locations. 

This role is actively involved in and leads quality assurance and service development activities to improve the physical health of people with severe mental illness. This role requires a high level health coaching/counselling; and is involved in clinical supervision of junior staff and students.

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics that allows eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia with experience at Level 2 or higher and possess a current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently problem solve, apply professional judgment and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and students.
