We are looking to recruit passionate Registered Midwives to join our friendly team at RPA Hospital! 
 
 
About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
 
The MGP midwife will work in a small team of midwives each providing continuity of care to 38 women per year. Availability and capacity to work an on-call 7 day rotating roster as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary agreement. Midwifery care will encompass antenatal, labour, birth and the postnatal care. The MGP midwife can provide intrapartum care in the low risk RPA Birth Centre or the RPA Delivery Unit. Midwives are supported to gain competency in advanced clinical skills including venepuncture/cannulation, speculum examination, perineal repair, and DAWN newborn assessments.
 
The MGP Midwife will: 
  • Demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide and coordinate woman-centred, evidence-informed, high quality, midwifery care (consistent with NSW and SLHD policies, procedures and standards) for women enrolled in the MGP and their families across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and postnatal/newborn care.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with the woman, her family, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. 
  • Maintain responsibility for personal and professional development by participating in ongoing training/education activities, clinical supervision and performance reviews in order to continuously improve the level and quality of service.
  • Work with the authority, responsibility and accountability for the achievement and maintenance of quality care and monitoring of outcomes for allocated women. 
  • Provide support to other staff.

Ideal Candidate

  • Registration with AHPRA; availability and capacity to work and participate in an on-call, (24 hour per day/7 day per week) roster across the continuum of care that includes pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary agreement.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
  • Commitment to professional development, including evidence informed practice and the acquisition and retention of comprehensive Midwifery skills (to be completed within 12 months of commencement).
  • Experience working across the full scope of midwifery practice is desirable.
