About the Role
You will be based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
The Medical Support Officer at the Medical Training and Administration Unit oversees and undertakes documentary requirements for recruitment, including retention and contract revision of Medical Officers. This role is key in mitigating the risk of doctors working without following due process or having appropriate contracts in place and hence minimises risk for RPAH.
This position is responsible for assisting the manager in coordinating the operational functions related to the recruitment, selection, on-boarding, contract management, personnel administration (including records management and MDAAC processes), and the provision of advice on HR related policy, awards, agreements, practice and legislation for the Senior Medical Workforce at RPAH.
The Medical Support Officer strives to develop and maintain positive relationships with clinical departments as well as facilitating communication with various other agencies including HealthShare, AHPRA, Department of Home Affairs, Locum agencies and Colleges.
The position holder ensures the provision of a high standard of support services in a timely, customer focused and resource efficient manner to meet the needs of RPAH.

Ideal Candidate
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage very complex processes according to strict policy standards in the management of end-to-end recruitment processes for Medical Workforce, including experience in providing advice to stakeholders and customers via the telephone, email and/or in person.
- Ability to work independently in a high volume and demanding environment with a proven capacity to organise and prioritise to meet deadlines.
- An understanding of the Senior Medical Workforce in NSW and with the ability to interpret relevant legislation, policy, industrial Awards and agreements.
