About the Role 

Canterbury Hospital is committed to providing high quality healthcare services to our local community, focused on patient and family-centred care. Since opening in 1929 our hospital continues to grow to meet the changing needs of our community and incorporate new models of care. 

The key purpose of this role is to effectively manage, analyse data related to the Emergency Department (ED) and Operating Theatres (OT) at Canterbury Hospital and report this information to internal stakeholders and the Ministry of Health. The role supports the ED and OT in the delivery of safe, quality care through timely reporting of data that supports the operational patient flow and, assists management in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to provide better outcomes for the patients.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant work experience in Health Information Management or Statistics.
  • Demonstrated high level analytic skills, including the capacity to compile, interpret, generate and present healthcare data accurately, and with a strong understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • High level leadership, problem solving, and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability in negotiating and managing expectations of various stakeholders in a multidisciplinary team.
