About the Role

The National Centre for Veterans’ Healthcare (NCVH) at Concord Repatriation General Hospital is an Australian first integrated ambulatory care service, providing comprehensive multidisciplinary healthcare to Australia’s veterans. The NCVH integrates expertise across medical specialities of Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Pain Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine, as well as Clinical and Neuro-Psychology and a broad range of allied health clinicians under a case managed care model. 

 

The NCVH Team, provides comprehensive care with the aim to meet the complex mental, physical and psychosocial needs of the veteran community and the coordination of sustainable ongoing links to supports in their community.

 

The role of the Diversional Therapist working in outpatient clinics with young veterans, is to provide clinically indicated Diversional Therapy treatment interventions which may address: leisure education, activity participation, sensory enrichment/modulation, leisure exploration, leisure skill development, activity modification, and social isolation.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Diversional Therapy that provides eligibility for full membership of Diversional & Recreational Therapy Australia Association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and clinical experience in Diversional Therapy practice and the provision of services to Veterans.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have a passion to want to improve the lives of our current and past veterans.
