About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

  

DHS provides a range of counselling and psychological interventions in a safe and caring environment. The Counselling Program offers comprehensive assessment and outpatient counselling services to individuals and families who are seeking help to reduce drug and alcohol related harm. A range of modalities including telehealth, videoconferencing and face to face delivery options are available.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in:
    • Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers OR
    • Must hold tertiary qualifications in psychology and be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in Psychology OR
    • Must hold qualifications recognised for employment as a Counsellor or Welfare Officer under the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award. 
  • Knowledge, skills and clinical experience in counselling and case management practice and the provision of services to clients seeking treatment for substance use and related issues. 
  • Ability to analyse problems, set priorities and apply a range of options to develop solutions.
