What you'll be doing

The switchbaord operator is responsible for the general day to day operations of the hospital switchboard and telecommunications services to ensure patients, visitors, internal and external staff are provided with an efficient communications systems. Provide information for patients, visitors and staff relating to paging, mobile phones, general enquiries, voicemail, alarms and contacting the appropriate department.

Selection Criteria:


  1. Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service

  2. Experience in responding to a range of customer enquiries and determining the appropriate response in a complex work environment

  3. Proven to work as part of a team in a busy environment

  4. Organisational skills and ability to work with limited supervision

  5. Ability to work a 24 hours, 7 day a week rotating roster

  6. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Outlook as well as other PC based programs
