The Specialist Pharmacist, Cancer Services is a specialist clinical role. The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across Prince of Wales Hospital and affiliated services for the defined specialty area of Cancer Services.
 
All Specialist Pharmacist roles are integral members of the Prince of Wales Hospital pharmacy team to provide specialist clinical knowledge and skills for the pharmacy service. The position will work closely with Team Leader and Lead Pharmacist positions, to maintain comprehensive pharmacy service across all operational hours. At times this position may undertake the roles of other Specialist Pharmacists to ensure continuity of service provision.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with post registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience.
  2. Significant experience and a demonstrated high level of performance, competence, expertise, skill and application of clinical judgment in the provision of haematology and oncology clinical pharmacy services.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop high quality written guidelines, procedures, educational, research or business materials.
  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, team building, influencing, conflict resolution and the building of a positive workplace culture.
  5. Proven ability and commitment to effectively role model, champion and promote teamwork.
  6. Demonstrated skills and experience in managing a complex workload, problem solving and development and implementation of initiatives.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
