Working as a Registered Midwife at the Royal Hospital for Women, you will have the opportunity to work across all maternity services including Antenatal Outpatients, Antenatal Ward, Birth Unit, Postnatal Ward and Midwifery in the home. As a Midwife at the Royal Hospital for Women, you will be part of a collaborative team that provides person centered and compassionate care.
What You'll Be Doing:

The Registered Midwife is responsible for the delivery of Nursing care within a designated unit. The Registered Midwife functions within the Policies and Procedures of the Department of Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) and the Nursing and Midwifery Division to co-ordinate and deliver high quality nursing care. Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Midwife within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives .

Selection Criteria:
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the National Nurses and Midwives Registration Board
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
- Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations
- Strong computer skills including Internet and email, and familiarity with health information systems
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Midwife in applying these principles
- Demonstrated commitment to the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles’
- A minimum of 1 year postgraduate experience working within either a women’s health surgical or midwifery or neonatal/paediatric setting – experience to align with either RN or RM AHPRA registration.
