An exciting opportunity to join a team led by a Team Leader Pharmacist and supported by other pharmacists and assistants/technicians.
The position will be a district wide role, working across the SESLHD sites providing service with flexible hours across the seven day week, including one regular weekend shift.
It is expected to participate in on-call, afterhours, and public holiday work. The role will collaborate with all SESLHD Pharmacy departments to ensure consistent and effective service provision across SESLHD.

SESLHD sites include, but are not limited to: Prince of Wales Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women, St George Hospital, The Sutherland Hospital and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital.

What you'll be doing

To provide clinical pharmacy services to the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) to optimise safe and appropriate medication usage for patients and staff. The purpose of this role will be to promote best practice in the areas of Best Possible Medication History (BPMH), Medication Reconciliation (Med Rec) and Medication Review to optimise patient safety and outcomes.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Have after registration not less than three years’ experience in hospital pharmacy and can demonstrate competency in at least one of the essential competency criteria and 3 other competency criteria as outlined for a Grade 2 pharmacist in the HEALTH EMPLOYEES’ PHARMACISTS (STATE) AWARD
  2. Demonstrated effective clinical drug knowledge and competence in its application to achieve safe and efficient quality of care.
  3. Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and other stakeholders to improve patient care and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with limited supervision to meet team objectives.
  5. Demonstrated skills and experience in managing a complex workload, problem solving and development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives .
  6. Proven commitment to professional development, continuing education and pharmacy research, including membership of a professional pharmacy association, preferably the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA).
  7. Current (New South Wales) drivers license and the ability to travel, as required for the district wide, on call, after hours, flexible working hours, weekend and public holiday work required in the role.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
