Where you'll be working
This position is primarily based at Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC), located on the grounds of Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital. The facility is part of SESLHD Population and Community Health (PaCH), Sexual Health and Blood Borne Viruses (SHBBV) services. SSHC is one of the SESLHD Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services, and this position may collaborate with those services as required.
What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 (CNS2) is responsible for the coordination and delivery of high-quality nursing care to clients attending SSHC services consistent with SESLHD policies, procedures and standards. The CNS2 will provide a diverse range of specialist services including sexual health assessment, STI screening and treatment, outreach services, client and community education and health promotion; triage and telephone services, including information and results provision. The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 is to collaborate with the Nurse Until Manager to:
- Provide high quality expert clinical care and leadership through a coordinated, proactive approach that targets the complex health care needs of clients attending SSHC and its outreach services.
- Act as a professional role model, client advocate and participate in Quality and Safety Activities to provide evidence-based care that supports strategies to reduce STIs and HIV transmission.
- Coordinate the community outreach testing services for sexually transmitted infections and HIV[RH1] [FT2] .
- Coordinate the training and ongoing supervision of peer educators who are accredited to work in SSHC outreach services.

Selection Criteria
- Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in sexual health, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues with the use of problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education and competency based training.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others including partnership organisations.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the current sexual health needs of gay and bisexual men.
- Experience working independently on projects such as audits and quality improvement activities and ability to maintain deadlines.
