Where you'll be working

SESLHD is one of the largest local health districts in Sydney, covering a geographical area of 468 square kilometres from Sydney’s central business district, the beaches from Bondi to Cronulla and down to the Royal National Park. We deliver health care to around 930,000 residents across the local government areas of Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick, Bayside, Georges River and the Sutherland Shire. We also provide a key role in helping residents of Lord Howe Island. Our staff also deliver high quality health care across a variety of community-based services ranging from pre-birth to palliative care.


The Role
The Nurse Manager – Strategic Priorities & Human Experience is a member of the SESLHD Nursing & Midwifery Directorate and will work closely with the key stakeholders at each facility providing leadership in the promotion of the human experience, nursing and midwifery strategic priorities and cultures of safety, quality improvement and innovation. Nurse Manager – Strategic Priorities & Human Experience will collaboratively develop, implement and evaluate strategies surrounding the human experience linked to the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and Elevating The Human Experience Framework (ETHE). This role will lead the implementation, embedding and evaluation of SESLHD Nursing & Midwifery: Our Strategy for Transforming Person-Centred Cultures 2024-2029.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, and current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to use same as required for the position.
  2. Relevant post graduate tertiary qualification in nursing/health management or leadership or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  3. Demonstrated organisational knowledge with strong leadership skills, excellent communication, interpersonal and written skills.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of principles and processes of change management, and an ability to forge partnerships at all levels both internal and external to the organisation.
  5. Extensive knowledge and demonstrated involvement in engaging with, capturing experiences of, and improving the experience for patients and carers.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise, organise and meet multiple demands.
  7. Well-developed problem solving, negotiation and analytical skills, including demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and provide leadership in quality and safety, facilitation, patient experience.
  8. High level of communication skills both written and verbal with ability to write reports, conduct presentations. In addition, computer skills are to be of a level to produce professional correspondence, reports and presentations.
