Where you'll be working

SESLHD’s Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services (SHBBV) provides leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services. 

The Role

The Nursing and Midwifery – Our Strategy for Transforming Person Centred Cultures 2024-2029 guides our profession in the development of effective person-centred practice and healthful cultures within SESLHD. We advocate for shared decision-making, collaborative relationships, compassionate and person-centred leadership, and supporting innovative practices.


NSW Sexual Health Infolink (SHIL) is a statewide sexual health service within SESLHD SHBBV, in the Population and Community Health Directorate (PaCH). As the SHIL Nurse Manager you will utilise your extensive experience and qualifications to: 
  • Coordinate the day-to-day running of this statewide service ensuring the delivery of high-quality and people focused care by implementing and maintaining strong governance, safety and quality principles.
  • Ensure evidence-based practice is employed within the service, and that the service remains responsive to the clinical needs of the health professionals and priority populations across NSW.
  • Collaborate with the Director of SHBBV to meet quality and performance indicators set across the SHBBV services.
  • Ensure the service operates in a manner consistent with NSW Health’s broader policies and procedures.
  • Assume a strategic role in the management and leadership of the service through the application of effective recruitment, induction, professional development, performance review and management processes.

Selection Criteria

  1. Extensive operational and management experience working successfully with a range of stakeholders in the management of health services including strategic planning and KPI’s, service development, implementation and evaluation.
  2. Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  3. Clinical and operational management experience at a senior level, including financial, budgetary and human resource management.
  4. Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical fields of HIV, hepatitis and sexually transmissible infections including the use of evidence-based interventions.
  5. Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills together with senior management abilities in change management, conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation; and demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive and effective reports.
  6. Proven leadership ability to motivate staff, lead and develop effective teams and drive a client care environment focused on continuous quality improvement.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and the capacity to apply knowledge and skills to manage a changing health care environment using innovative improvement strategies.
  8. Experience in the coordination of quality improvement activities and National Safety and Quality Health Care Standards.
