Are you an experienced Enrolled Nurse seeking full time or part time work where you can gain experience in a variety of specialties? Prince of Wales Hospital is currently recruiting for our Nurse Bank Permanent Relief Pool which allocates nurses to work in wards and units with staffing shortfalls due to short term or long term leave. The allocation may be shift by shift to various wards across the hospital or, at times, to one ward for long term leave relief. There is an opportunity to develop your nursing experience across a broad range of specialties. Full time and part time positions available. Ability to work rotating shifts is required.


Where you'll be working
The Prince of Wales Hospital is a major teaching hospital based in Sydney's eastern suburbs that serves all of New South Wales. The hospital is situated close to the city, Bondi Beach, excellent shopping facilities, and within walking distance to Coogee Beach.

We are affiliated with the University of NSW, one of the premier medical teaching facilities in Australia. This assists us to provide excellence in care in conjunction with our commitment to clinical teaching and medical research.

Currently the NSW Government is investing $720 million to redevelop the Prince of Wales Hospital and progress the vision of Randwick as a world-leading centre for health and wellbeing, research, education and teaching. An Acute Services Building will be built in Stage 1 including a new adult emergency department, extra beds, intensive care unit, and new operating theatres for the campus.

More than just a new hospital building, this major redevelopment will transform how we deliver health services at Randwick. This facility will enable us to continue to attract and retain the best nurses, doctors and support staff and meet the changing health needs of our community. The redevelopment expands opportunities for cutting-edge health research, world first treatments and improved patient outcomes.

What you'll be doing

The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) consistent with SESLHD and POWH policies, procedures and standards.
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and assists in the provision of nursing care.

Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions. All Enrolled Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by: NSW Health, The Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Prince of Wales Hospital.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  2. Holds a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration, including intravenous therapy
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, other care providers, hospital clinicians, immediate team members and other stakeholders
  4. Supports working in a person centred environment
  5. Current professional practice knowledge base
  6. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
  7. Knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Enrolled Nurse in applying these principles.
  8. Demonstrated recent extensive post registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
