Come Work With Us!

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

Garrawarra Centre will appeal to Clinical Nurse Educators who have a particular interest in working within the complex specialty of Dementia and who are committed to person-centred care.

Garrawarra Centre is a NSW Health Residential Aged Care Facility that specialises in providing person centred care to people living with Advanced Dementia, who experience behavioural and psychological symptoms. Our 104 bed facility is an approved Commonwealth Residential Aged Care and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider.
Comprising of four individual cottages, accommodating up to 26 residents in each, the cottages incorporate several comfortable living areas, indoor activity spaces, sensory rooms, lounges and dining rooms, secure side courtyards and a secure main central garden that lies between the ‘arms’ of the cottage.

Our residents are supported by multidisciplinary Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff, as well as a broad Corporate and Hotel services team.
Garrawarra Centre is located just south of Waterfall on the outskirts of the Royal National Park, near the Garrawarra State Conservation Area, which provides beautiful natural surroundings for residents, families/carers and staff to enjoy. Due to the location, the facility is not accessible by public transport, however free on-site parking is available.

An Aged Care Check and NDIS Worker Check is a mandatory requirement for this position

The Role

The Clinical Nurse Educator Aged Care Standards provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the cottage level.  Specifically this role will focus on the Aged Care Quality Standards and the assessment and documentation required for the aged care funding model.
The role will co-ordinate the required education of staff in conducting the necessary assessments  required that measure how much subsidy a residential aged care facility receives to cover the care of each resident.  Each resident requires assessment on the level of care they require, their daily living activities, behaviour and complex health needs. Assessment can include continence, mobility, nutrition, personal hygiene, toileting, cognitive ability, wandering, verbal behaviour, physical behaviour, depression, medication, and complex health care.
