Clinical Midwifery Educator – Midwifery Group Practice – The Royal Hospital for Women

The Clinical Midwifery Educator (CME) Midwifery Group Practice position will facilitate the clinical skills and practice development of midwives working within the Midwifery Group Practice models of care. The CME will share knowledge and expertise of maternity care across the continuum of pregnancy birth and postnatal periods and will actively contribute to the facilitation of mandatory maternal and fetal safety education. The CME will actively promote woman centred care, advocate a woman’s right to choice, control and continuity of care from known caregivers.

Selection Criteria:
- Registered Midwife (Division 1) with AHPRA
- Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification and clinical experience in high risk maternity settings.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and understanding of teaching and learning in the healthcare environment (adult learning principles).
- Proven competence in advanced midwifery skills: Perineal suturing/ cannulation / maternal and neonatal resuscitation/ speculum examination/ cervical screening tests /comprehensive assessment of the newborn
- Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of midwifery curricula and NMC Board requirements for Midwifery Practice and ANMC competencies for registered midwives
- Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment
- Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems
