What you'll be doing

The Clinical Manager will lead a multidisciplinary clinical mental health team of between 5 – 10 FTE within the Adult Community Mental Health Service.

The Clinical Manager will also oversee the provision of high quality evidence based clinical services, including assessment, care co-ordination, intervention, liaison and review that meets the needs of adults referred to the service with a mental illness or disorder.

If you are an overseas qualified Social Worker, you are required to have your qualifications assessed by the AASW to meet the position criteria.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award. Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW or Occupational Therapy with current registration with AHPRA. Registered Nurse/Midwife with current unrestricted registration with AHPRA and meet the requirement for NUM 1 grading under the NSW Public Health System Nurses' and Midwives' State Award. Psychology registration with the PsyBA, along with completion of 12 months at the 9th year of service and thereafter point on the salary scale for Psychologists. For Clinical Psychologists, full Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), with endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology (or eligibility to progress towards the same), along with a minimum two-year full-time accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology.
  2. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of adult community mental health care services with a focus on recovery-oriented and strengths approach that incorporate consumer collaboration in care planning, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrated willingness to undertake professional development to further advance management and leadership competencies.
  4. Demonstrated extensive experience in an adult community mental health environment and experience in leading change initiatives for improved service provision.
  5. Knowledge of contemporary issues in management including financial, human resource and organisational management.
  6. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  7. Strong computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office and experience with relevant Health related computer programs.
  8. Current NSW Driver’s Licence with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
