Where you'll be working


An opportunity exists for an Allied Health Assistant to join the Occupational Therapy Department at Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick and work within the rehabilitation and acute care teams. The Occupational Therapy Department employs up to 36 Occupational Therapists across Acute, Rehab and Outpatient caseloads. As such this position has an important role in supporting Occupational Therapists to meet their patient goals.

 

No clinical or hospital experience is required as SESLHD in partnership with the nominated Training Organisation will support you to undertake the required study.

 

 
What you'll be doing

Provide support to the Occupational Therapy team in the delivery of health care services to patients under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist and consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District policies, procedures and standards.

This vacancy is Targeted Aboriginal Recruitment under Part 5, Clause 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014. Aboriginality will be confirmed during the selection process.  

Upon commencement of employment, the successful applicant will be enrolled with a Registered Training Organisation, and will be required undertake part-time study (during work hours) to complete a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance in the first 18 months of employment


Selection Criteria


1. Aboriginality - being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a requirement for this position. Please tell us about your Aboriginality, including Community and/or Mob
2. Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent work experience and a willingness to work towards certification with the support of SESLHD.
3. Proven interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
4. Computer literacy or a willingness to learn
5. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work with minimum supervision, to organise work priorities and manage time effectively
6. Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and principles.
7. Current Class C NSW driver's licence (or equivalent).
