The Role

The Nurse Manager of the Peri Operative Service at St George Hospital, in collaboration with Divisional Director Surgery is responsible for the planning, coordination and resource management of elective and emergency surgical procedures within the perioperative environment, ensuring that patients undergo surgery in line with their clinical indication and meet key safety and elective surgery performance targets.
The incumbent will be actively involved and work collaboratively with the Anaesthetics Head of Department, and Divisional Director in service planning, clinical innovation and risk management across the Peri Operative Services at St George Hospital.
The Nurse Manager, Peri Operative Services St George hospital will effectively lead the nursing team and associated workforce within the Peri Operative Service to build capacity and capability within a learning environment.

Selection Criteria
- Registered Nurse who holds current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Recognised tertiary management qualifications or working towards same, relevant to the role and demonstrated evidence of recent professional development to enhance leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience in organisational change management and achievements of measurable outcomes
- Demonstrated clinical, operational and strategic experience within a Peri Operative environment
- Demonstrated high level verbal written and negotiation skills with an aptitude to utilise relevant information technology platforms to provide clear and concise business plans and reports
- Proven experience in human resources and financial management
- Demonstrated knowledge of current clinical practice and emerging trends in the Peri Operative environment, its delivery and models of care needed to support change.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current NSW Peri Operative KPI’s and proven ability to meet these on a monthly basis.
- Demonstrated recent Peri Operative management experience in an acute care facility.
