What you'll be doing

To be a Section Manager overseeing at least two imaging units within a given modality speciality area such as US, CT or MRI. To be responsible for the orientation and training of medical radiation scientists, technical assistant staff, students  and other health professionals to the clinical speciality. To co-ordinate workflow to ensure maximum throughput and utilisation within a given work area. To be responsible for the maintaining and ongoing development of imaging protocols relevant to the modality area. To ensure strong and effective communication between staff, patients and referrers to ensure a smooth and efficient service occurs. Under the direction of the Medical Imaging Manager, Assistant Chief MRS and relevant Staff Specialist, be accountable for the maintenance of high standards of imaging.

Selection Criteria

  1. Degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent. Extensive clinical experience or post graduate qualification allied to an area of expertise or specialisation e.g. CT, US, Angiography, MRI.
  2. Holder of NSW EPA Radiation Licence and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Accredited sonographer via ASAR if performing Ultrasound duties.
  3. Evidence of strong and empowering leadership skills, motivation and advocacy with sound ability in conflict resolution and staff liaison skills.
  4. Possess extensive knowledge, expertise and experience within the area of specialisation including procedures and associated imaging equipment.
  5. Ability to instruct MRS (radiographers and/or sonographers),undergraduates and other health workers in techniques appropriate to the equipment being used and the procedures being performed.
  6. Experience and knowledge of Radiology Information, PACS, Hospital information System, Incident Management Systems and other general computer applications.
  7. Ability to organise workload to ensure staff and equipment are utilised efficiently and effectively by using demonstrated effective communication skills both verbal and written with team building, liaison and negotiation skills.
  8. Willingness to maintain and pursue personal educational development.
