Where you'll be working
At South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), our vision is "Exceptional Care, Healthier Lives." We are dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of our community and delivering compassionate, high-quality care when it's needed most. Our hospitals, leading tertiary referral and teaching institutions, are recognised for their commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care across a diverse and dynamic population.

As part of SESLHD, you’ll be joining a network of hospitals that provide a wide range of specialised services and support a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.

What you'll be doing
As a Pharmacist Intern, you will embark on a structured, one-year program designed to build your clinical confidence and deepen your understanding of contemporary hospital pharmacy practice. The program offers rich, hands-on experience through rotations in key specialty areas including medical, surgical, critical care, oncology, and more.

You will be supported throughout the year by experienced preceptors, mentors, and clinical educators. Our program integrates clinical assessments and reflective practice tools to help you continually develop your knowledge, professional judgement, and patient care skills.

Your role will include delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based medication management services across SESLHD hospitals. We aim to offer the opportunity to rotate between sites as part of a structured schedule, giving you exposure to varied hospital environments and pharmacy models of care. You will also have the opportunity to attend tutorials facilitated by other public health facilities.

This is a unique opportunity to grow within a supportive team, contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes, and begin your professional pharmacy career in a leading public health network.

Please ensure you upload your most recent CV and a copy of your academic transcript with your application. The recruitment process consists of two stages:

  1. First Round: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a psychometric assessment.
  2. Second Round: Successful candidates will be invited to an interview, which includes a short presentation component. Details will be provided to successful applicants.

We look forward to receiving your application and welcoming the next generation of pharmacists to our team!

Are you ready to join us?

We are excited to learn more about you and your experience. As part of the application process, we invite you to respond to the following targeted questions:

  1. Can you describe a clinical situation during your studies, workplace or placement where you applied your pharmacy knowledge to solve a patient-related issue? What was the outcome?
  2. Tell us about a time when you worked as part of a team to achieve a common goal. What was your role, how did you contribute, and what did you learn from the experience that you would bring to a hospital pharmacy setting?
  3. Intern pharmacists are expected to actively contribute to the daily operations of the pharmacy department while also pursuing self-directed learning. How would you effectively balance these responsibilities to ensure your learning goals are met without compromising the department’s service delivery?
