What you'll be doing

Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

The successful applicant will participate in the provision of a clinical and consultative service in the area of Paediatric Rheumatology and assist the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network to develop a sustainable Rheumatology service. The scope of the service will involve inpatient and outpatient management of acute and chronic rheumatic disease including - but not confined to - inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune disease, vasculitis, uveitis and non inflammatory musculoskeletal disease.

The appointee will have an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and would be expected to participate in quality assurance activities and peer review.

Appropriate clinical research will be encouraged.

The appointee may also be offered a conjoint appointment in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health within UNSW Sydney, Medicine at a level commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This is a permanent part time Staff Specialist position 0.5FTE.

The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience.  The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the relevant University.  The academic title will be held for the duration of The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network appointment.  No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.  The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network for clinical matters.
