Applications are invited for the position of Staff Specialist - Neurology at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick. This position is permanent and up to 1.0FTE.

What you'll be doing
Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.

Ensure that Research and teaching is undertaken and focused on the area of General Neurology & Epilepsy.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

The appointee will join an active tertiary multidisciplinary team with Level 6 clinical care state-wide responsibilities. The Department of Neurology has special interests in Epilepsy (including EEG telemetry and assessment of patients for epilepsy surgery) the administration of the Ketogenic diet, Neuromuscular Disorders (including neurophysiology), Brain Tumours (including cytogenetic profiling) and Neurogenetics.

The position requires expertise in:
1)  General Neurology
2)  Competence in the management of patients with Epilepsy and particular expertise in Neurophysiology
3)  Another neurology subspecialty to build unit capacity in for example: neuroimmunology, brain tumours, peripheral neurophysiology, neuroimmunology or rehabilitation.

The appointee is required to manage inpatients, outpatients and perform on-call duties covering all areas of Neurology. The appointee is required to work independently but be willing to contribute to the activities of the Neurology Unit working collaboratively within the group. The appointee will be required to have an active role in undergraduate and post graduate teaching and to participate in quality assurance activities and peer review.

The appointee may be offered a conjoint appointment in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales at a level commensurate with qualifications and experience.
