SCHN's Adolescent Medicine - Eating Disorder Programs currently has 2 Staff Specialist Paediatrician temporary backfill positions available, 0.2FTE located Randwick Campus and 0.4FTE located Westmead campus to cover Eating Disorder Inpatient and Outpatient Service. The positions are available for an immediate start through to 30 June 2021.


The Staff Specialist position, within the SCHN Department of Adolescent Medicine, is responsible for medical assessment and management of adolescents at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick with Eating Disorders. 
 

The Adolescent Medicine staff specialist will work within a multidisciplinary model of care acknowledging the complex range of concerns and issues faced by these adolescents. The position will provide medical leadership in this clinical area and contribute to strategic planning, service development, teaching and research addressing paediatric eating disorders at SCHN. 
 

The SCHN Eating Disorder Service (EDS) provides treatment for children and young people with anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders from across New South Wales with programs at The Children’s Hospital Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Inpatient re-feeding admissions, outpatient treatment, intensive day treatment, family admission program, parent groups and an extensive family therapy program are offered. The EDS also has a well-established clinical research program and regularly provides training, education and supervision to other services. The EDS is jointly managed and staffed by the Department of Psychological Medicine and Department of Adolescent Medicine on both sites of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. The service has a medical and allied health co-lead who are responsible for the strategic direction and daily management of the staff and programs.
This position will provide:

  • 0.4FTE support to the CHW EDS inpatient and outpatient program and
  • 0.2FTE support to the SCH EDS program.

Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
