  1. Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution
  2. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with negotiation skills, report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
  3. Proven leadership and management skills and experience including operational management, budget management, staff management and resource management
  4. Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
  5. Extensive experience working in the laboratory including experience in staff training and competency assessment
  6. Demonstrated understanding and sound knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
  7. Advanced skills and experience in molecular biology or microbial genomics, including quality control systems and data analysis, with demonstrated ability to develop, scientifically evaluate and implement new molecular diagnostic assays or processes
  8. Ability and willingness to participate in a seven day rotating roster
