About the opportunity
NSW Health Pathology and the Sydney Cord Blood Bank are seeking a highly motivated, diligent and skilled individual with venepuncture experience to be employed as a part time (4 days per week Monday - Thursday) Cord Blood Collections Coordinator (Registered Nurse classification) working in Camperdown at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for Women and Babies. Training will occur in Randwick at the Sydney Cord Blood Bank.
While the contract for the position is temporary (2 year contract) the Sydney Cord Blood Bank has operated under rolling, renewed funding contracts for over 20 years. The goal of this recruitment is to fill the position for the long term.

What you'll be doing
- Identify and assess potential donors in liaison with the obstetric teams, in accordance with Sydney Cord Blood Bank (SCBB) donor selection criteria.
- Coordinate all requirements of cord blood collection at affiliated collection sites including management of critical material, recruitment and consent of donors, maternal interview and donor eligibility evaluation, and performing cord blood and maternal blood collections when required
- Perform training and education in relation to collection activities for SCBB staff and obstetric teams, including accreditation of obstetric team staff

- Registered Nurse with current registration through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification
- Demonstrated evidence of autonomy in decision making skills
- Validated competency in venepuncture, and/or demonstrated previous venepuncture experience
- Demonstrated advanced leadership skills and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team, with evidence of contribution to the development of clinical practice
- Demonstrated ability to undertake consent interview and documentation with patients in a professional and sensitive manner, taking into consideration privacy, cultural differences and the precise recording of a medical history
- Current unencumbered Australian C Class Drivers Licence
