What you'll be doing 

The Registered Nurse / Clinical Nurse Specialist coordinates and delivers high quality customer care to patients of NSW Health Pathology. This position is responsible for the provision of high quality training and education to the staff of the Collection Service in the Hunter New England footprint. The preferred candidate will be expected to embrace, display, and teach a philosophy of gold standard throughout the collection department. They are a critical component in ensuring that this Collection Service is prepared to provide the highest of standard of patient care possible. This outcome will be achieved through providing expert educational support to staff, while maintaining the pre-determined standards as directed by Nurse Management and authorities, such as NATA.

    1. Registered Nurse with current registration through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification 
    2. Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 12 months experience working in the relevant clinical area of their post-registration qualification; or four years post- registration experience, including three years experience in the relevant specialist field
    3. Proven experience in venepuncture with Paediatric experience essential
    4. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff
    5. Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology setting and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the work environment
    6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services, including the use of Patient, Rostering and Quality systems, with an understanding of policies and requirements relevant to a clinical setting
    7. Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
    8. Previous experience educating, mentoring and demonstrated leadership within a large department
