Hospital Scientist - Legionella Reference Laboratory

1. A Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science or Applied Science with a Microbiology major, or an equivalent qualification
2. Demonstrated experience or advanced knowledge in methods and associated technology in the specific field, in an accredited laboratory or relevant environment
3. Knowledge of chemical and/or biological hazards and precautions that exist within a laboratory environment and associated responsibilities
4. Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner, and manage competing priorities while ensuring attention to detail, precision and maintaining accountability of work completed
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing and the ability to educate internal and external stakeholders, and represent the Unit at relevant expert forums.
6. Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment
7. Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety, privacy and quality improvement requirements
8. Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence

Applicants may be required to undergo a functional assessment prior to appointment.

All staff employed by NSW FASS will be required to supply a reference buccal sample so that their DNA profile can be compared to other generated profiles to exclude the possibility of contamination.
