  1. Tertiary qualifications of at least a Bachelor Degree in Science/Biomedical Science with Honours or an equivalent qualification in another relevant field.
  2. Demonstrated significant experience in setting up and validating new methodologies in a research laboratory including DNA and RNA extraction methodologies with associated statistical evaluation of scientific data.
  3. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the biobanking landscape in NSW including the legal, ethical and regulatory requirements working with human tissue for medical research, the key factors contributing to biobanking success, with demonstrated experience in biobanking or scientific/clinical research.
  4. Advanced knowledge and operating competency in the validation and delivery of automated and manual research support services relevant to the Biobank laboratory, including interfacing with Laboratory Information Systems, Quality Control Systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite and Access.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills including scientific writing skills, writing manuscripts and standard operating procedures (SOPs), the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures and high level organisational skills.
  6. Proven ability to perform in a self-directed and highly motivated fashion with limited supervision and to contribute to developing strategies whilst maintaining high quality work output under pressure.
  7. Proven leadership and management experience including operational management and staff management, with high levels of problem solving, conflict resolution and risk management skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to determine priorities for others, coordinate allocation of tasks, train, coach and mentor work performance of staff to achieve service/unit objectives.
