ABOUT THE ROLE

NSW Ambulance is looking for a highly motivated and experienced leader to step into a key role within our Recovery Management team during an extended leave period. In this pivotal position, you’ll work alongside the Associate Director, Recovery to drive a strong, organisation-wide culture of recovery at work. You will lead a dedicated team managing the workers’ compensation function, supporting our Regional, Aeromedical, Corporate, and Control Operations. Beyond day-to-day leadership, you’ll play a crucial role in implementing our strategic plan, shaping procedures, programs, and initiatives that enhance return-to-work outcomes and deliver measurable performance improvements. Please note: This is a temporary full-time position for a period of twelve (12) months with possible extension.

ABOUT YOU

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably Allied Health) and/or significant demonstrated experience in workers compensation, injury management or rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of workers’ compensation and/or return at work professionals with a recovery at work focus in a large, diverse and complex organisation. This includes having a strong working knowledge of workers’ compensation legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement principles, procedure development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a complex psychological claims portfolio.
  • Experience in effective planning, organising and problem-solving skills, including leading and supporting a team through change.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to successfully build relationships including interacting with injured staff, management and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated people management skills, including the ability to supervise and motivate staff in a high-volume work environment, including an ability to deliver multiple outcomes within tight timeframes with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide staff support, staff development, performance management and the early identification of unacceptable workplace behaviours and taking appropriate action such as investigation, resolution and monitoring of harassment and bullying, grievance issues and conflict resolution.
