Where you'll be working
Mental Health Inpatient Unit Team at Royal North Shore Hospital

What you'll be doing

This role is to perform duties below, but not limited to:

  • Work under limited guidance in the provision of day-to-day admin support to both the MHIPU to ensure effective service delivery by prioritising day to day work.
  • Utilise organisational skills to set priorities and manage workflow to support service delivery. This includes but not limited to general admin support. Ensuring all office supplies and forms are maintained within budgetary constraints.
  • Provide reception services to facilitate the professional and timely management of internal and external customer inquiries via telephone, face to face or written communication.
  • Provide accurate typing and word processing services for senior clinical staff.
  • Coordinate the Mental Health Review Tribunal (MHRT) hearing bookings and be responsible for the collation and forwarding of procedural documentation.
  • Coordinate Magistrate Hearings and attend to all correspondence in regards to proceedings, including notification of relevant persons under the Mental Health Act 2007.
  • Consolidate Medical Legal requests and prepare medico-legal reports.
  • Develop workflow systems and processes to ensure operations are effective and efficient and maintain databases by senior staff of the MHIPU Team.
  • Organise, coordinate and provide secretariat support for designated meetings and committees, including preparation.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Proven high level organisation skills and the ability to set priorities to ensure efficient workflow and a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to providing high quality, professional and customer focused services.
  3. Demonstrated efficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, word processing (40 words/minute), and experience or willingness to learn new information systems including: eMR, Winc, Oracle, Stafflink, IIMS +
  4. Demonstrated ability to understand and perform duties associated with the requirements of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007, mental Health Review Tribunal and Guardianship Tribunal and other appropriate Acts and Regulations.
  5. Experience in the review, development, implementation and maintenance of administrative office systems.
  6. Demonstrated ability to write reports, briefs, documents and correspondence, including drafting complex correspondence for senior staff, accurately and clearly, minute taking for various meetings.
