A temporary opportunity to join the RNSH Social Work Management Team is now available. This position is responsible for the RNSH SW Department Cancer and Renal Services Team - a dynamic team of social workers providing clinical social work service to areas including oncology, haematology, surgery, and renal.

What you'll be doing
Lead and guide a Social Work service to patients, clients, consumers and their family/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with NSLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. This position is responsible for providing professional leadership and team management to Social Work staff located in Royal North Shore Hospital Acute Care and Women, Children and Family Health Teams.
The position works co-operatively with the Social Work Head of Department and will assist in the coordination of comprehensive Social Work Services including supervision of a team of social workers. The position is expected to provide leadership in quality activities, attend to human resource management and manage specific projects.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with minimum experience as a level 2 , including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics.
- Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker across a range of clinical areas in a health setting, including a demonstrated understanding of complex health conditions and the impact on patient well-being.
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, leadership and management of a Social Work team.
- Demonstrated advanced communication skills (both written and oral) and demonstrated competence in the use of electronic information systems
- Excellent negotiation, complex decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; ability to work unsupervised and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature across a team.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to quality processes and the application of evidenced based practice within Social Work.
