The Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Unit (Brolga) is located in Hornsby. This unit provides a safe and therapeutic environment for 12–17-year-olds experiencing mental health problems. Brolga Adolescent Inpatient Unit- Hornsby

What you'll be doing

The Social worker will be involved in in providing family therapy to complex family systems with a case management, with a particular focus on Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) as well as structural and systemic therapies to develop behaviour management plans for the ward. You will deliver and facilitate group therapy, alongside multidisciplinary colleagues and using an interpersonal skillset to make collaborative decisions of consumer-focused care. You will have passion for education training and research and have strong involvement in information management and thorough documentation. As a leader, you will be supported in clinical supervision, and departmental meetings with an emphasis on strategic partnership with external stakeholders and services.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. A Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Evidence of extensive clinical experience, inclusive of experience as a Level 2 Social Worker.
  2. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation process. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
  3. Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current social work practice. A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide for consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Have the ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgement.
