This position is unique opportunity to contribute to research within the new end-of-life space, VAD. As a Research Pharmacist within Voluntary Assisted Dying, you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting research activities contributing to practice and service development and to identify improvement opportunities for patients and family / carer outcomes.

What you'll be doing

The VAD Pharmacist works as a member of the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Support Service (NVSS) providing care to individuals accessing VAD in NSW in accordance with approved VAD protocols and care pathways. NVSS is made up of three arms, the VAD-PS, the access team (authorised VAD practitioners), the care navigator service. Under the supervision of the Director, NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Support Services (NVSS) and the Manager, Voluntary Assisted Dying Pharmacy Service the VAD pharmacist research assistant will work as part of the NVSS team to carry out research activities contributing to practice and services development for improving patient and family/carer outcomes at end of life. The NSW Statewide Voluntary Assisted Dying Pharmacy Service (VAD-PS), Access team and Care Navigator Service primary purpose is to provide high-quality and comprehensive care. The VAD-PS provides pharmaceutical care integrated within the multidisciplinary VAD team, by partnering with patients and clinicians to ensure the accessible, compassionate, safe and
effective use of VAD medicines for eligible patients across NSW.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

 



  1. Current registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA with no conditions or restrictions on practice.
  2. Extensive experience of working as a pharmacist in a senior capacity in a hospital and/or community environment, preferably with clinical experience in end-of-life care.
  3. Proven ability to work independently and to establish effectively collaboratively working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and interagency networks.
  4. Demonstrated ability to undertake clinical research activities and/or quality improvement activities.
