Where you'll be working
Northern Sydney Local Health District facilities are located on picturesque and tranquil settings where our world-renowned hospitals and facilities are situated, located in Sydney's prestigious North Shore, Northern Suburbs and Northern Beaches districts. NSLHD Casual Pool offers our employees the choice of working across multiple sites, with exposure to a broad range of skill development opportunities.
These sites include:
- Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) and Community Health Service is a 634-bed principal tertiary referral centre. It is close to the CBD and transport facilities, accommodation, recreational and childcare facilities are available. Specialties include Surgery, Medicine, Women’s & Children’s Health, Critical Care Services - ED State Trauma Centre, Operating Theatres, ICU General, Neurology/Neuroscience and Cardiology. State referral for Burns/Plastics, Neonatal Intensive Care, Interventional Neuroradiology and Acute Spinal Cord Injuries. RNSH has a commitment to person centred care, supporting our staff in developing their skills with Clinical Nurse Educators available in all units. RNSH Emergency is part of the State-wide Trauma Service
- The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service (HKHS) incorporates a 295 bed, major metropolitan hospital providing a comprehensive range of secondary level services, outpatient services, six community health centres and ten early childhood centres. There are a large range of departments and services in both acute care and community settings. These include acute Medical & Surgical wards, large operating suite department, Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), Rehabilitation, Maternity and Paediatric wards, Emergency & Intensive care Departments. Emergency – HKHS is a mixed ED which sees approximately 120 adult/paediatric patients per day. We are a progressive department with an excellent culture. Come and join our friendly happy team!
- Ryde Emergency There is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join Ryde Hospital Emergency Department Casual Pool. Ryde Emergency Dept. will provide a supportive learning environment to enable you to develop skills within a variety of clinical areas such as the Emergency Medical Unit, Acute and Emergency Fast Track. Ryde Hospital also boasts a well-established resuscitation bay, where you will be exposed to Advanced Life Support and Critical Care nursing skills. Serving a diverse population, Ryde Emergency Department remains a fast-paced clinical environment, managing Acute Medical, Surgical, Geriatric and Paediatric presentations. If you are keen to join the team at our Emergency Department to gain an insight into critical care patients, then we encourage you to apply.
- Mona Vale Hospital Urgent Care Centre (UCC), located on the Pittwater Peninsula between Manly and Palm Beach, continues to have a vital role in providing healthcare services to the Northern Beaches community. Mona Vale Hospital has an Urgent Care Centre (UCC) which operates 24/7 to treat minor injuries and illnesses. Come and join the team by the beach.
What you'll be doing
The NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individual/s and the greater health care team to achieve quality patient care outcome. Our focus on Patient Centred Care is the foundation of our service delivery. If you are keen to continue utilising your skills in the critical care area of ED then this is the opportunity for you.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Are you a Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)? Please provide your AHPRA registration number.
- Summarise your current Emergency Department clinical knowledge, clinical experience and your ability to problem solve within the ED environment.
