Registered Midwife MAPS
Do you want to provide Antenatal Care and Midwifery in the Home, workday shifts and the opportunity to manage your own caseload of women and be able to provide continuity of care? Welcome to the Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) in our Maternity Services. Maternity Antenatal Postnatal Service (MAPS) will be responsible for a caseload of women per year based on your FTE (approximately 7 – 10 women per month over/for 12 months) Working a 7day week roster including weekends. Positions are being offered on a temporary part time basis.

Where you'll be working
The Registered Midwife working on the MAPS Model of Care will aim to provide antenatal care from the booking in visit followed by the routine schedule ANC visits to Midwifery in the Home (MITH) and point of contact up until day 14 postnatally (as per hospital usual care guidelines). All intrapartum care and inpatient care are provided by Birth Unit and Maternity Unit Staff. The Registered Midwife will manage a caseload of women and be supported by the MAPS team education and broader multidisciplinary teams. Registered Midwives will be supported in developing skills and competences required to work within the Model of Care.
To provide quality woman centred, effective, evidenced based midwifery care in accordance with the ANMC National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2006) and to supervise the work of others as required.
The midwife will consult and liaise with obstetric, medical and other appropriate staff as per the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and referral (PD2010_022) guidelines when deviations from the norm are identified
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a high level of written and verbal skills with both patients and colleagues.
- Recent experience and competency to practise as a midwife in antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Current unrestricted NSW Drivers licence.
