Where you'll be working

PCLI Stage 2, Macquarie Hospital, Northern Sydney Local Health District

What you'll be doing
A primary goal of this position is to work collaboratively with staff, consumers, carers and other agencies (both within NSLHD and government and non-government organisations) to promote effective participation in mental health treatment, support and recovery. This role will carry a supporting clinical caseload, alongside leading and championing practice improvement through participation in strategic and operational planning, quality improvement, service development, education and training, evaluation, research and other activities.


People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.


Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. A bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics. Recent, extensive and varied post graduate clinical experience as a level 2 Social Worker or above.
  2. Extensive experience in tailoring verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills for internal and external service providers. Demonstrated proficient computer literacy and ability to confidently use health information systems.
  3. Demonstrated experience in, leading, initiating, mentoring, completing and presenting quality improvement activities, research and service evaluation process. Extensive experience in clinical teaching and supervision for students and allied health staff.
  4. Extended skills and specialised knowledge in the provision of current clinical social work practice. Ability to take responsibility for the delivery of evidence-based practice for consumers, carers and families.
  5. Proven ability to work autonomously. With confidence, has the ability to prioritise work, manage conflicting demand, monitor individual performance, problem solve and utilise independent professional judgement.
