Where you'll be working
Occupational Therapy Department, Royal North Shore Hospital and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.
What you'll be doing
You will be a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist; required to facilitate the transition of patients from inpatient health facilities in NSLHD to home (or other suitable accommodation) for end-of-life care, hence will require a high level of expertise in the clinical area of palliative care. This will include prescription and provision of specialized equipment, home assessment, education and support.
This service is provided by two level 4 OTs one based at Royal North Shore Hospital, and one based at Hornby Ku-ring-gai Hospital who work collaboratively; integrated with the consult palliative care teams at each facility and respond to referrals across the LHD. A 6 monthly rotation between the two sites has been put in place which supports the seamless cover arrangement when required.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and current Australian Occupational Therapy registration (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated advanced communication and negotiation skills including verbal, written and multidisciplinary liaison. Advanced decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation.
- Evidence of advanced clinical skills and demonstrated significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services for palliative care clients including complex equipment prescription at Level 3 or above.
- Experience in and ability to initiate, lead, complete quality improvement initiatives along with service development initiatives.
- Current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver's Licence or equivalent.
