About the Role
Purpose of the Position
The Network Director Surgical Skills Program (Northern Network) reports to the Deputy Executive Director Medical Services (DEDMS, NSLHD Medical Administration) and works closely on local initiatives and policies related to JMO wellbeing and performance within the Surgical Skills network. Also, the position will need to work operationally with NSLHD site Director Medical Services / Deputy Director Medical Services / JMO Unit Managers and Medical Administration to be involved with the day to day workforce management of Surgical Skills SRMOs including rostering, leave management, overtime management, term allocation, resource allocation and performance management of clinical terms and staff within the Surgical Skills Network as required.
The position will need to work/collaborate with District Manager Medical Workforce as required on the request of the Deputy EDMS for district led activities related to the Surgical Skills Network.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must hold a current temporary or permanent clinical appointment within the Northern Surgical Skills Network

- Demonstrated commitment and experience in educational leadership and strategic coordination of training and education in a hospital environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of adult learning, learning methodologies, learning pathways, assessment practices
- Demonstrated strategic clinical leadership experience including change management in a complex environment, influencing and negotiating skills, and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively / productively with a range of stakeholders, including LHD executives, hospital administration, medical colleges, and clinicians
- Sound oral and written communication skills, including capacity to prepare high quality reports, briefings, submissions, business cases and correspondence
- Current drivers licence, ability and willingness to undertake a reasonable amount of travel within and outside the local health district.
