Purpose of the Position
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained substantial specialist pathways. Applicants expecting to be awarded their FRANZCP within 6 months may be considered. You must have a Certificate in Forensic Psychiatry.

- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in forensic psychiatry across the age range.
- Demonstrated thorough working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007, NSW Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act 2020, and the Crimes Act 1900, particularly in relation to people who are 'forensic patients' in accordance with the legislation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the New South Wales public mental health and drug and alcohol systems or similar and experience in and understanding of effective partnerships with consumers, carers and health related organisations in the government and non-government sector.
- Demonstrated liaison and interpersonal and communication skills that engage all parties, facilitate transfers, admissions and follow-up of consumers to community services.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to use standard computer applications such as Intranet, MS Word and Outlook
- Valid NSW Drivers Licence or equivalent.
