What you'll be doing

This senior counselling position is a senior clinician and team manager within the HIV/Sexual Health/Viral Hepatitis areas. The position will provides team leadership and manages a team of Counsellors and provides clinical supervision for allocated team members.

The Counselling Unit Manager works closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues and senior managers within HIV and Related Programs (HARP) to ensure the development and delivery of effective, pro-active and developmental counselling, social work and related services.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  3. Demonstrated competencies in providing counselling services in a community health or acute hospital setting.
  4. Demonstrated competencies in HIV &/or Sexual Health/Hepatology with an understanding of service/policy directions in Sexual Health/HIV  & Hepatology.
  5. Demonstrated competencies in case management activities and inter-agency networking with high level oral and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience in managing a team and managing service delivery.
  7. Demonstrated competencies in team management and the provision of clinical supervision of staff.
  8. Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
