The Respiratory Ward at Royal North Shore Hospital is seeking a suitably experienced Enrolled Nurse to join their team.

Where you'll be working

8C is an 18 bed unit with14 acute beds plus 4 beds in the Respiratory Special Care Unit (ReSCU). ReSCU is an HDU style step-down unit that caters for patients requiring close monitoring and additional interventions such as Non-Invasive Ventilation and High-Flow Oxygen therapy. The Ward is supported by enthusiastic nursing staff, a variety of allied health professionals, a Respiratory Clinical Nurse Consultant, and a Ward Based Clinical Nurse Educator.


What you'll be doing
The purpose of this role is to provide safe and effective nursing care to patients using an individualised holistic approach related to the goals of care determined by the Primary Nurse (Registered Nurse) and within professional role limits and Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice. In the delivery of nursing care the Enrolled Nurse will work under both the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.    

The Enrolled Nurse will consult with the registered nurse to ensure delegation is commensurate with own level of competence and within Local Health District (LHD) and Service policy, particularly in relation to the administration of medications.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
  2. Post registration experience in an acute hospital.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  4. Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal.
